In this month’s Calvary Temple Young Adults meeting, Pastor Jeff taught on the subjects of Love, Joy, Peace, Gratitude. He touched on each topic during the meeting and encouraged the group based off Pastor Scott’s recent teachings on the fruit of the Spirit.
Here are some of the highlights and scriptures from the meeting. I hope that it blesses you, as it did for me.
To start the meeting, Pastor Jeff asked, “How many people do you end up touching in your life when you are focused on loving others.”
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. (1 Corinthians 13:1-2)
Some of the specific challenges that he gave during the meeting were:
If we are going to properly love one another we must come to grips with our own sinfulness and the power of the gospel.
Do you live with the fear that something from your past is going to come back and haunt you? The enemy wants to hold you in guilt and anxiety.
One of the most impactful points that He made, concerning loving others was:
Our power to love others comes only through the Holy Spirit. We don’t have the ability to love others in ourselves.
One of the questions that Pastor Jeff posed to the group, that is so important for us to constantly remember is:
Do you let the Lord rule your day, your decisions and your schedule?
I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. (John 15:5 ESV)
Fear not, you worm Jacob, you men of Israel! I am the one who helps you, declares the Lord; your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel. (Isaiah 41:14 ESV)
